Indonesia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ITU on Thursday, April 6th, 2017, at Laboratorium HI, Faculty of Social and Political Science Building, Parahyangan Catholic University. The MoU has been made to develop cyber security and especially in cyberinfrastructure in the Indonesian region. The cooperation was said to develop the technology in the country as Indonesia is still developing in term of cyberinfrastructure.
By signing MoU with ITU, Indonesia could get the help they needed from the organization. And ITU could help Indonesia to ensure the safety of the cyber security. ITU will assist Indonesia by giving technical assistance and send expertise to train and do capacity-building for the civil society. The representatives from ITU said that the organization hopes all the assistance and support will be applicable in Indonesia and help the civil society’s welfare. They also said that the reason they help the country is because one of their aims is to make the internet accessible for all the country around the world. Indonesia believes the effort that has been made by ITU as the organization is working under United Nations (UN).
Both parties hope that with this cooperation, they will develop a better cyber governance and cyber infrastructure, also to realize a safer cyber security in the future.
