Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom were signing the Memorandum of Understanding consists of three agendas such as cyber security, cyber infrastructure, and international norms on Monday, April 10th, 2017 in Rektorat Building, Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia.
These two parties already have a good relationship since before, and economic sector tends to be their important matter. That is why these thing have to be the reason why they want to enhance cyber security and cyber infrastructure, both are willing to prevent cyber-attacks to secure their private sectors between two countries by sharing information and best practices. United Kingdom, as the one who is capable to deal with cyber world, is having vision and objective to support the cyber capability of other states.
“We, as the initiator, would like to cooperate with United Kingdom because they are well-known as one of the states who has capability in this cyber world, and that is why we want to use this opportunity as a means of strengthening our cyber infrastructure. Furthermore, they have the vision and objective to help other countries in facing this cyber world and we have to use this opportunity as well as possible,” said the representative of Saudi Arabia.
The representative of United Kingdom also said, “We accept this offer is because we believe that this cyber space is an important matter in this interconnected world, so if we success to secure cyber space in one state, we hope it will secure other states as well.”
Saudi Arabia hopes that with this cooperation, this would lead them to the better cyber security and cyber infrastructure, and eventually it will protect their business sector from any kind of cyber-attacks. United Kingdom is focusing on their digital economy as well, just like what their representative have said, the more secure their cyberspace is, the better our relationship will be.
