International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), EastWest Institute (EWI), and Australia were signing the Memorandum of Understanding on Monday, April 17th, 2017 in Laboratorium HI, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia.
ICRC is willing to cooperate with EWI and Australia because they seem to have a similar vision, specifically in human rights. They hereby want to promote the privacy in cyberspace to prevent multi-stakeholders from any kind of cyber-attacks. “We focused on this sector is because we acknowledge there are much more individual identities and personal information in cyberspace that needs to be protected, and we feel the responsibility to take part in securing this sector,” said the representative of ICRC.
ICRC hopes that all related parties in this MoU can promote human rights and take part for enhancing a better cyberspace. Australia hopes that this would develop people’s awareness towards individual privacy in cyberspace, cyber norms, and responsible behavior from every citizen. EWI expects that they would expand their cooperation within multi-stakeholders for a better, safer, and more stable cyberspace ahead.
