Russia and the United States held a bilateral meeting and press conference related to the upcoming World Summit on Cyber Governance MMXVII on Monday, April 17, 2017, in front of Audio Visual Room, Faculty of Social and Political Science Building, Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia. This agreement is an extension of the previous agreement between both states in 2013, named U.S.-Russian Cooperation on Information and Communication Technology Security.
Both states also added some points related to the World Summit on Cyber Governance MMXVII. The point that was being added is the cooperation between both sides in cybersecurity by exchanging information. Both states are cooperating with each other in order to re-establishing the previous relation between them both. The other point in this agreement was that both sides agree to resolve the problems in the field of information and communication technology, such as malware and other cyberthreats that will be harmful to the states. They also agreed to increase transparency in information sharing in order to combat cyberterrorism.
The bilateral meeting was followed by a press conference held by both states. Both states confirmed that they have opened communication and discussion to prepare for the summit. They also agreed to reduce tension between both states and cooperate in order to get the best outcome for the summit.
