[PRESS RELEASE]: “FACEBOOK AND GERMANY WILL PROVIDE A SAFE CONNECTION WITHIN GERMANY AND ABROAD THROUGH PROVIDING FREE BASIC INTERNET”

As of today, Wednesday, April 19th, 2017, Germany and Facebook signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the collaboration in strengthening the cyber security and enhancing the cyber infrastructure in front of Audio Visual Room, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Building, Parahyangan Catholic University. Facebook is willing to contribute in strengthening Germany’s cyber security as well as enhancing the cyber infrastructure through its program.

By signing the MoU, Facebook is eager to strengthen the Germany’s cyber security by cooperating in combating fake news with Facebook’s newest feature and also providing a safe connection for its users in Germany. Both parties committed to assist through its program by using Facebook as a legal platform to communicate and share information with the society. In addition to that, Facebook will support, promote, and be an agent for the development of industry 4.0. Both parties will cooperate in providing a safe connection within Germany and abroad through providing “Free Basic” internet, a free access to Facebook without any internet connection.

Through this cooperation, Facebook expected a better and more comprehensive relationship with Germany and that Germany could support any programs that related to the management of cyber governance initiated by Facebook. Germany also hope that its economic could be enhanced in line with the existence of Facebook as one of the multinational companies that sustains Germany’s cyber infrastructure.
